What you are covered for:

African Unity Life Limited , a licensed insurer and authorised Financial Services Provider (FSP8447) will provide cover under the Jika Lumpsum Payout Plan, as described in this document, subject to the continued payment of your premium (as part of your Jika Smart Membership fee) and your adherence to the terms and conditions of this Policy. The Policy commences upon the successful completion of the sale and your acceptance of these terms and conditions and remains in force provided you continue to pay your monthly premium. Non-payment of your premiums will lead to the cancellation of your policy subject to Rule 15A of the Policyholder Protection Rules. The cover provided by this Policy will apply to a Main Member, his/her spouse and/or children as nominated.

To be eligible for cover under the Policy you must meet the following conditions at entry date:

• The Main Member and spouse (if applicable) must be between the ages of 18 and 65 years (i.e. younger than age 66 next birthday);
• The Beneficiary must be 18 years or older; and
• Children must be between the age of 0 – 21/25 (conditions apply as below).

CHILDREN FAMILY BENEFITS

• Unmarried children will be covered up to and including the age of 25 years if they are studying at a recognised school or tertiary institution. This is subject to the provision of satisfactory evidence (annually) of registered study at a recognised school or tertiary institution. Without proof of such study, the maximum age for cover will be up to and including 21 years of age.
• Mentally or physically disabled children who are unmarried and who are totally and completely dependent on the Main Member will be covered for as long as the Policy is in force.
• Unborn children will be included as a dependent from 26 weeks or more. Only two stillbirths will be accepted per family during the term of this Policy.

Your membership includes a “Membership Payback Benefit” which activates on the death of the Main Member only. Your beneficiary or the executor of your estate will be paid an amount equivalent to the value of the total number of Jika Smart membership fee debits we have successfully collected from You.

This amount will be calculated from the first successful collection of your monthly Jika Smart Membership fee up to the last Jika Smart Membership fee successfully collected before your death. Interest is not applicable and will not be paid.

This benefit is for the main member only. To be clear, if you have passed away, and regardless if the Policy has continued, no other person on the Policy is entitled to the Membership Payback Benefit. The Jika Smart membership fee is as per the Jika Smart Membership letter.
